Workers Compensation

When injuries happen at the workplace or illnesses are caused as a direct result of the workplace, a Workers’ Compensation policy handles these claims. This is the only home builders’ insurance coverage that provides medical and income benefits for injured workers as well as legal protection for employers, whether you use subcontractors or employees.

The Workers’ Compensation policy is paid for by you and insures your employees, if you have employees, or it insures you – the contractor.  At HBIS, we encourage you to consider a Worker’s Compensation policy even when you are the only employee.  You deserve the benefits offered by a Workers’ Compensation Policy.
Texas Workers’ Compensation insurance provides four benefits to employees if an illness or injury is caused on or by the workplace. The four benefits are income, medical, death, and burial.

The Workers’ Compensation Income Benefits replaces a set portion of wages your employee loses due to a work-related injury or illness. It also provides compensation for any permanent physical or mental damage to a worker. Within the Workers’ Compensation income benefits there are four types:  temporary income benefits, impairment income benefits, supplemental income benefits, and lifetime income.

The Death Benefits of a Workers’ Compensation program will replace a portion of lost family income for eligible family members of workers killed on the job.

Workers’ Compensation Medical Benefits pay for reasonable and necessary medical care in the treatment of a work-related injury or illness. These medical benefits are paid directly to the medical provider.

The Death Benefits of a Workers’ Compensation program will replace a portion of lost family income for eligible family members of workers killed on the job.

The Burial benefits pay some of the deceased worker’s funeral expenses.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE:  It is extremely imperative for you to have every one of your subcontractors sign a DWC83, Workman’s Comp Waiver, and for you to keep those on file for your records!

HBIS represents companies offering competitive premiums, comprehensive safety resources and health care networks to reduce the cost of injuries and lower your premiums.
